With footpaths, woodland and rolling Chiltern countryside right on our doorstep, just a few miles from Great Missenden, The Cock & Rabbit makes a rather good place to start — and an even better place to finish — a walk.
Whether you’re after a gentle wander around The Lee or a proper afternoon leg-stretcher, there are some lovely routes close by.
Muddy boots are very much part of the deal — just leave the worst of the countryside outside before coming in.
The Lee & Lee Common
A lovely easy walk for anyone who wants a proper wander without turning lunch into an expedition.
The route follows quiet lanes, bridleways and stretches of common around The Lee and Lee Common, with beautiful views across the surrounding Chiltern countryside.
Perfect for: families, dog walkers and anyone planning to be back at the pub in time for lunch.

A beautiful countryside route through fields and woodland, linking Ballinger with The Lee and passing the village green along the way.
The walk is mainly level, with just a short steeper descent and climb near the finish. There are also a handful of stiles and gates along the route.
Perfect for: a longer morning walk followed by lunch, or an afternoon wander before settling in for a drink.

This short Chiltern Society route begins at The Cock & Rabbit and heads from The Lee towards Swan Bottom.
It takes in footpaths, woodland, paddocks and part of the Chiltern Way, making it a lovely little route if you want to stretch your legs without committing to a full afternoon out.
Perfect for: a quick pre-lunch walk or an easy countryside stroll before coming back for a drink.

Dogs are welcome in Café au Lee, both bars and the garden, and fresh water is always available.
