Food at The Cock & Rabbit
Our chefs draw on their Sicilian, Spanish and English heritages to craft menus with both English and Mediterranean influences. Using local produce wherever possible (for example, our eggs come from Cheyney’s Farm right next door!) and always with a nod to the seasons, we have our meat, fish and vegetables delivered three times a week so that we know we can be assured of the best quality, freshness and flavour.
The result is fresh, vibrant and generous dishes that taste and look great – food to be enjoyed over long lunches, relaxed suppers and memorable celebrations.
Sunday Roast
Our Sunday roast has become something of a local favourite. Beautifully roasted meats are served alongside crisp golden roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, rich homemade gravy and all the traditional accompaniments. It's everything a great Sunday lunch should be, generous, comforting and expertly prepared and one that brings guests back week after week.
Menus change daily based on seasonal produce. You can view some sample menus below to get a sense of the style and quality of food we serve — but if you'd like to know exactly what's on the day you plan to visit, simply give us a call or pop in and we'll be happy to let you know.
Everyone's Welcome
Everyone is welcome though our doors – we’re a village country pub, which means locals and visitors alike; walkers and cyclists; grumpy old men and excitable children (although we prefer smiles and better-behaved!). Dogs are welcome in the garden, café and both bars (but not the restaurant). We have some customers who arrive by pony and some in tractors (agricultural and those from SW3).
Surrounded by some of the finest walking and cycling country in the Chilterns, we're the perfect place to pause before or after an adventure. Join us for a coffee and homemade cake at Café au Lee before you head out, or return for a well-earned pint, leisurely lunch or evening meal. There's always fresh water for the dogs, a warm welcome from our team and a comfortable place to relax.
Families are just as much a part of The Cock & Rabbit. The garden offers table tennis, outdoor games and plenty of space to run around and keep younger visitors entertained. When the weather turns, you'll find board games and books waiting by the fire - just as likely to be enjoyed by the grown-ups as the children!
